A message to all valued staff, residents, families and volunteers, from Bishop John Parkes
I am writing to confirm the positive news about the future of Kellock Lodge.
As you may be aware, moves are underway to transfer the home to the control to the community under the auspices of respected local businessperson Mr Larry Falllon.
This is an excellent outcome for residents, staff and the local community. It will see Kellock Lodge continue to provide quality care to the people of Alexandra, and all existing conditions for residents and staff protected.
After extensive talks over recent months, Mr Fallon and I have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding which will see control of the home and its assets transferred to Kellock Lodge Alexandra Inc, the incorporated association that currently oversees the home.
The Trustees of the Anglican Diocese of Wangaratta, which is the approved provider for Kellock Lodge under aged care legislation, will gift the Kellock Lodge land to the association and transfer the government-issued approved places (commonly known as bed licenses).
I expect settlement will take several months, and I will keep you informed. In the meantime, Mr Fallon will be establishing a new interim board, on which I will also serve.
The most important thing for staff to know is that under the agreement there is no change to the employment of existing care, nursing and ancillary staff.
The most important thing for residents and families to know is that residents will not be required to leave Kellock Lodge and that their resident agreements continue, so there will be no extra or increased accommodation deposit or costs.
As we move to finalise the new arrangements as quickly as possible I thank all staff in advance for your continued focus on care, support and reassurance for our residents.
